TWO FARM ACCESS ROADS WORTH ONE BILLION LAUNCHED.

Mubende district kicks off construction of (2) two farm access roads (road chocks) at a cost of one billion.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mubende district has today launched construction of two roads costed at one billion Uganda shillings under Agricultural Cluster Development Program (ACDP).

These two farm access roads (road chocks) namely Kalagala –Mugungulu road 7.6km and Kiruuma -Kirwanyi –Kituule road 7.8km at Bagezza sub county and Kiruuma sub counties respectively are funded by the world bank through Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries under the Agricultural cluster development program which is being implemented in 57 districts for a period of 6 years with an aim of easing access to markets from high production centers to boost commercial agriculture for small scale holder farmers.

Mr. Birungi Abubaker the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mubende while presiding over the launch of the rehabilitative works for farm access roads (road chocks) at Kirwanyi village in Kiruuma Sub County in Mubende district he has urged the farmers to desist from subsistence farming where nearly all the crops / livestock raised are used to support the family and shift to commercial farming where the produce is in big quantity and can be easily transported to markets using the rehabilitated road thus in improving on the families income.

Mr. Birungi has appealed to m/s Niem Establishments limited a contractor who was a warded the contract of carry out the rehabilitative to works to do quality work which will stand the test of time to enable the residents in this area access the markets.

Lcv chairman Hon Muhereza Ntambi Micheal explained that “Mubende district has a big road network thus challenged with maintenance role since the breakdown of the road equipment which was given to entire district therefore the construction of the road chock has come in at a timely moment to enable Earth works, drainage works including major bridge structures on these roads be carried out.
