Mubende district local government set to conduct Integrated Child Health Days (ICHDs) a biannual campaign that takes place in April and October to supplement routine primary healthcare. During these months, the intensified interventions to improve child health and survival, including vitamin A supplementation, deworming, immunization, and growth monitoring at the community level.
While addressing stake holders during the planning and coordination meeting for April 2025 integrated Child health days campaign and measles out break response Ag. DHO Ms Namusoke Mary noted this campaign is aimed at increasing community awareness on immunization and generate demand for vaccination up take among communities and key stake holders. Improving e immunization access and reduce the number of zero dose children in Mubende, Conducting a min vaccination campaign for measles in response to the out break in the following sub counties: Butoloogo, Kiruuma, Madudu by providing measles rubella vaccine dose to children aged 9-59 (non selective) and for non out break sub counties provide MR2 to all under -fives that missed in the BCU.
She added that campaign will target:
-1 yr all routine antigens including HEP.B, IPVI, MRa1, yellow fever vaccine, vitamin A, nutrition assessment,PMTCT and growth monitoring
-12months -17months - missed routine antigens deworming, Vitamin A, nutrition assessment.
-18 months -59 months - missed routine antigens, MR for all 12-59 months, deworming, Vitamin A, nutrition assessment.
-5-14yrs Deworming, School health and screening for vaccines status.
- 10 yrs -Asingle dose of HPV vaccine is protective for life. Two doses shall be maintained for immunocompromised girls
15-49yrs pregnant and non pregnant women- Td, Hepatitis B, ANC , PNC family planning , cervical screening for women aged 25 years and above every 3 years.
- 1year -60 Years - can receive their yellow fever vaccines if they missed in previous campaigns screening for Hepatitis B, HIV, TB and malaria , hypertension, diabetes. General health education and community inspection for hygiene and sanitation
lCV chairman Hon Muhereza Ntambi Micheal while giving his opening remarks thanked the team for the engagement aimed at improving immunization coverage.
He noted that drug stock out at most health centres is escalated by administration at the health centre. In charges should always present the actual figure that target the population to facilitate the request for medicine from the centre
He added that there is increased out cry at the patients especially the pregnant women about the behavior of health workers at the health centre thus the need to have good customer care for patients.
He further requested the teams to work as a team to see to it that the task of immunizing the children and women is achieved
