WATER PROJECTS WORTH ONE BILLION SHILLINGS COMMISSIONED
Mubende District leaders have commissioned water projects for the FY 2023/2024 worth one billion 200 million Uganda shillings

Projects commissioned include shillings, Kyabayanja solar piped water system phrase one at Kyabayanja village in Kiyuni sub county worth 186 Kyezza solar piped water system at Kyeeza village in Butoloogo sub county worth 357 million Uganda million Uganda shillings, Kigando grid piped water system at Butawata village in Kigando sub county worth 552 million Uganda shillings, a production well at Butayunja village in Kayebe sub county worth 35 million Uganda shillings. A five stance lined VIP latrine at Katongole village Kigando Sub County worth 35 million Uganda shillings and a five stance lined VIP latrine at Gogonya village in Kitenga Sub County worth 35 million Uganda shillings.

While presiding over the commissioning ceremony for the above projects the District Internal Security Officer who represented the Resident District Commissioner Mr. Tandeka Apollo noted that government has invested a lot of funds in the above projects with an aim of improving the hygiene and sanitation through providing safe clean water and proper disposal of human waste.

Mr. Tandeka stressed that with the piped water system a fee will be charged as determined by the user committees and the above funds will be used for cleaning, repairing, maintaining and protecting the systems and latrine facilities

Mr. Tandeka noted that construction of a latrine reduces the spread of diseases with in the community thus the need to protect and maintain the newly constructed lined VIP latrine facilities which have been allocated to communities by contributing a user fee of 200 shillings, funds meant for cleaning and maintaining the latrines.

Mr. Tandeka has cautioned the residents in the respective sub counties against vandalism of pipes for the water systems which will destroy the entire water project meant to serve the communities.

Lcv chairperson Hon Muhereza Ntambi Michael has appreciated the contractors who were tasked with constructing the water systems and latrine facilities for producing timely and quality out put.

Mr. Ntambi has requested the beneficiaries to be vigilant and protect the water systems and latrine facilities received because they are aimed at providing proper waste management and clean safe water to the communities thus preventing the various diseases attached to poor management of waste, un safe and dirty water.

Hon Ntambi has appealed to the user committees to set manageable convenient fees for the communities so that the communities will be served as planned.

Mr. Tumusiime Leonard the Chief Administrative Officer Mubende district has requested the residents to protect and maintain the facilities as received because they are meant to serve the community.

Mr. Tumusiime added that the district will provide all the technical support through the advice and training of the user committees to smoothly run the water systems and latrine service.

Mr Katerega Dickson the District Water Officer noted that the facilities have been constructed under the water and sanitation conditional grant and all user committees have been initiated to look after the facilities.
